MTTCC Round Shaped Cards: A Winter Wonderland with Di's Digital Stamps
Hello Crafting Friends!
Welcome back to the My Time To Craft Christmas Challenge Blog for week 4 of our Shaped Cards Series! This week, we’re diving into Round Shaped Cards, and I’m excited to share a special creation I made for the challenge.
If you’ve been following along, you may recognize that I’ve been experimenting with a fun and elegant technique—a multi-frame print—which I also used in a previous project over on Di's Digital Challenge Blog. If you haven’t checked that out yet, head over to my blog post titled Winter Wonderland Card featuring Di's Digital Stamps: A Multi-Frame PrintTechnique for all the details. But for today, I’m taking that same technique and giving it a fresh spin using a round card base!
The Design
For this card, I chose to use a digital print from one of my favorite digital stamp artists, Di’s Digital Stamps: “It’s Cold Outside Snowman”. You can find this adorable stamp and many others over on Di’s Etsy shop. The little snowman is simply charming, and I couldn’t resist turning him into the focal point of this round-shaped card.
The Multi-Frame Print Technique (Round Style!)
The method I’m using here is a variation of the multi-frame print technique I previously shared, but this time I’ve cropped the print into a 5.75-inch circle before creating the frame. This round shape gives the card a softer, more whimsical feel, perfect for wintery themes.
Here’s a step-by-step breakdown of the process:
- Create and Crop the PrintStart by printing the “It’s Cold Outside Snowman” image onto your choice of cardstock. Using a photo editing program, crop the image into a 5.75-inch circle. I love this technique because it allows you to really highlight the image in a fun, unique way.
- Frame DesignNext, I created the frame around the image. For this, I used a combination of die-cutting and layering techniques. You can get creative with the materials and colors you use for the frame, but I kept mine simple and elegant with a soft white and light blue palette, which perfectly complements the snowy theme.
- Stitching for Extra EleganceOne of the features I absolutely love about this technique is the addition of hand-stitching around the frame. It adds texture and a handmade feel that elevates the design. For this card, I used a simple backstitch in a light silver thread, giving the whole piece a subtle but gorgeous touch.
- Assembling the CardOnce the frame and printed circle were ready, I attached them to a pre-cut round card base. I then added some embossed snowflake embellishments around the edges.
Why I Love This Technique
What I adore about the multi-frame print technique is how quick and simple it is, yet it always results in a sophisticated, high-end look. It’s perfect for anyone looking for an elegant design that doesn’t require too many supplies or complicated steps. And with the addition of stitching, this technique feels like you’ve put a little extra love and effort into the card, even though the process is streamlined.
A Crafty Tip:
When you’re creating shaped cards like this, especially with intricate details like stitching, remember to always use a sturdy cardstock for your base. It will help ensure the card holds up well and keeps its shape when sent through the mail.
