Star-Shaped Shaker Easel Card for My Time To Craft Christmas Challenge #107

Hello, crafty friends!

I'm beyond excited to share my latest design for the My Time To Craft Christmas Challenge Blog! For this challenge, we’ve come to the end of our Shaped Cards series, and for our final theme, we’re asking you to create Star Shaped Cards. Of course, I had to get creative with this theme, and I’m thrilled to present my design: a Transparent Star Shaped Easel Card with a fun shaker element!

This card is one of my favorites because it combines so many festive elements that I adore: a transparent shaker, beautiful silk poinsettias, and an elegant sentiment to capture the spirit of Christmas. Let me take you through the details of this fun project and the inspiration behind it!

The Design: Transparent Star Shaped Easel Card

The star shape was the perfect fit for this holiday card because it’s so symbolic of Christmas—after all, the Star of Bethlehem is such an iconic part of the season! I wanted the card to feel both elegant and festive, so I decided to make it an easel card, with a transparent shaker element in the shape of a star. This way, when the recipient opens the card, they get an interactive surprise!

Here’s a quick rundown of how I put it all together:

Shaker Element:

I created the star-shaped shaker using clear acetate to give it a transparent look. Inside, I filled the shaker with a mix of goldwhite, and red sequins, along with snowflakes for a wintery touch. These elements are perfect for catching the light and creating that twinkling, festive vibe.

Silk Poinsettias and Sentiment:

To embellish the transparent star, I used beautiful silk poinsettias—one of my favorite holiday flowers. The deep red color of the flowers contrasts so nicely with the gold and white tones of the shaker elements. The sentiment I chose reads: “O Holy Night, the stars are shining brightly.” This is such a meaningful phrase, and it felt perfect for the star-shaped card. The sentiment was stamped and embossed in gold to give it an elegant touch that matches the overall aesthetic of the card.

The Easel Base:

The easel portion of the card is the base that props up the transparent star, giving it the easel shape. I layered the bottom (inside) with gold snowflake patterns for a subtle, elegant look. To keep the easel upright, I added a red bow—it’s simple, but I think it makes a big difference in giving the card that festive, holiday charm.

Inspiration Behind the Design

This card was inspired by a fantastic YouTube video I found by the Coast 2 Coast Craft Girls—they made a circular transparent easel card, and it got me so excited to try something similar. I wanted to take their idea and give it my own twist by using a star shape instead of a circle, which I think is perfect for the Christmas season.

Once I had the concept, I designed the shaker, the card base, and all the layers on my Cricut account. If you’d like to recreate this card yourself, I’ve made the project available in Cricut Design Space. You can find the link to the project here: Cricut Design Space Star Shaped Easel Card.

Why I Love This Card

I absolutely love how this card turned out—it’s elegant, festive, and truly captures the magic of Christmas. The transparency of the shaker makes it feel light and delicate, while the rich colors and textures of the poinsettias and sequins add warmth and festivity. Plus, the easel design gives the card a sense of dimension that makes it feel special, almost like a little holiday decoration.

I can’t wait to send this card next Christmas to someone I love. I think it will bring joy and a little sparkle to their holiday celebrations!
