Fairy Birthday Wishes – A Stash-Busting Challenge Card
It's time for a new challenge over at Di’s Digital Designs Challenge Blog, and this time we’re diving into our stash! I had so much fun making this card as part of the Design Team and couldn’t wait to share the details with you.
For this challenge, I created a 5x7 layered birthday card in a dreamy palette of teals and purples. I chose to feature one of Di’s sweet fairy freebies that she generously shared in her Facebook group. If you haven’t joined yet—what are you waiting for? Di’s group is a welcoming, crafty community filled with inspiration, sneak peeks, and the occasional adorable freebie like the one I used here!
I colored the fairy using my Ohuhu Alcohol Markers, keeping her wings soft and delicate—I wanted them light enough to have that magical, airy feel, and I’m really happy with how they turned out.
For the "stash" elements, I had a great time pulling out supplies that have been waiting patiently for their moment to shine:
The patterned papers have been tucked away in my collection for quite a while, just waiting for the right color combo and card style.
I used some Anna Griffin oval dies to create the layered shapes framing the fairy, adding that touch of elegance I love.
Behind the image, I added texture using Nuvo Expanding Mousse through a stencil—both of which were hiding in my stash. I love the dimensional look the mousse gives!
A mix of inks, color drops, and paper flowers added extra layers of interest and softness.
The "Happy Birthday" sentiment is a stamp I’ve had forever and finally put to good use again.
All in all, I’m really pleased with how this card came together. It’s always satisfying to give new life to older supplies, and pairing them with Di’s charming fairy made for a magical finished product.
I’d love to hear what you’ve made from your stash! Come join the challenge and show us your stash-inspired creations over at Di’s Digital Designs Challenge Blog—we can’t wait to see what you create!
