🐻 BBQ Bear Cascading Slimline Card | Di’s Digital Designs Challenge Blog DT Make

Hi crafty friends!

I’m back today with a fun new project I created as part of the Design Team for Di’s Digital Designs Challenge Blog. This time, our theme is all about ā€œAnimals Doing Something Humanā€ā€”and I had such a great time playing along with this one!

🐾 My Take on the Challenge

For my card, I chose the adorable ā€œBarbecue Bearā€ image from Di’s Digi Stamps. Isn’t he the cutest? Standing over the grill like a pro, spatula in hand, this little bear is clearly ready for summer—and I thought he was perfect for a Father’s Day card!

šŸ“ Card Style: Cascading Vertical Slimline

Lately, I’ve been on a slimline card kick, and I was looking for a way to change things up a bit. I came across a great tutorial by My Inky Fingers for a Vertical Cascading Slimline Card, and it turned out to be the perfect choice for this design. The fun fold adds great dimension and movement while still keeping a sleek slimline shape. It really helped spotlight that BBQ Bear perfectly.

šŸŽØ Finishing Touches

I colored the image using my Ohuhu Alcohol Markers, which are quickly becoming my go-to for vibrant, blendable color. For the background layers, I dove into my paper stash and found some perfect masculine prints and textures to set the scene—no need to buy new paper when you’ve got a crafty collection ready to go!

To tie it all together, I added a "Happy Father's Day" sentiment to the upper layer of the cascading card. It gives the whole piece that final polished look and makes it just right for the occasion.

And while the angles on the card base might seem tricky, following the tutorial carefully made the construction smooth and enjoyable!
