π Full Column, Full Heart – A Diamond Edge Anniversary Card for the Christmas (or Not) Bingo Challenge π
It’s time for a brand new challenge over at the Christmas (or Not) Bingo Challenge Blog, and this round is all about choosing a column from our Big Bingo board and crafting with at least three of the elements listed. I went all in and chose Column O—and I used all five elements for this special project!
I created a 40th Anniversary card for my parents, and I had so much fun pulling in each item from the bingo list to make it meaningful and elegant. Here's how I completed the column:
✨ 1. Fun, Fancy Fold
For the fancy fold, I tried something brand new—a creative design I saw Sam Calcott from Mixed Up Craft demonstrate during a YouTube Live. I’m calling it a Diamond Edge card because of the way the folded edges frame the card front like faceted gems. It’s dramatic, dimensional, and incredibly fun to make!
π️ 2. Ivory
I made ivory the main color of the card, using ivory cardstock for the base and most of the layers. It gave the card a classic, timeless look that felt just right for a ruby anniversary celebration.
❤️ 3. Free
For my “free” element, I added ruby red glitter cardstock accents—perfect for a 40th wedding anniversary, which is traditionally the ruby anniversary. The sparkle added a rich pop of color that beautifully contrasted the ivory base.
π 4. Ribbon or Lace
Why choose one when you can have both? I lined the diamond edges of the card with two different lace trims to add texture and elegance. On the inside, I ran a ruby ribbon behind the diamond folds to tie the design together and keep the theme cohesive.
π 5. Embossing or Foiling
I incorporated both dry and heat embossing for extra detail. I embossed the ivory panels with a swirled pattern to add soft texture, and I also heat embossed a verse sentiment on vellum for the inside—giving it a delicate, almost ethereal quality.
This card was a joy to make and one of the most rewarding projects I’ve done lately. It was a creative challenge and a heartfelt gift rolled into one.
π If you’re feeling inspired, pick your own column and come join the fun over at the Christmas (or Not) Bingo Challenge Blog! Whether it’s a festive holiday card or something completely different—there’s always room at the table for your creativity.
