Butterfly Wishes - Christmas (or Not) Bingo Challenge – Column I

 Hello crafty friends!

Today I’m sharing a card I made for the Christmas (or Not) Bingo Challenge Blog. I decided to play Column I, which called for Square, Layers, Doily or Lace, and a Stamped Image—such a fun combination that really let me stretch my creativity.

Here is the choice board in case you are curious.

For my project, I created a square-shaped card and started by building the background with four different squares of patterned paper. These papers were a special treat—tucked into my Christmas stocking from my mother-in-law! The pack is full of beautiful floral prints in soft light blues, pinks, purples, and grays, which gave the card a very gentle and feminine feel right from the start.

To really lean into the layers prompt, I stacked several circle dies in varying sizes using purple cardstock, foil paper, and ivory cardstock. A few of these circle dies also doubled as doilies, adding lots of delicate texture and interest.

For my stamped image, I chose a butterfly. I heat embossed it directly onto one of the patterned papers, then die cut it to fit perfectly with the layered circles. I love how embossing adds that subtle shine and elegance without overpowering the softer background.

To finish off the card, I lined the edge of the card with lace, added a Happy Birthday sentiment, and sprinkled on a couple of pearls for accent. The final result is a very feminine, lacy card—definitely a “not Christmas” card, but perfect for this versatile bingo challenge.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! Be sure to check out the Christmas (or Not) Bingo Challenge Blog to see what the rest of the team has created, and I hope you’ll play along too. Happy crafting! 💜🦋
