Sentimentally Yours – A Mother’s Day Card with Heart
Hello crafty friends!
It’s time for another fun challenge at Di’s Digi Designs Challenge Blog, and this time the theme is “Sentimentally Yours.” That means we’re putting the spotlight on sentiments — those special words that can make a handmade card even more meaningful.
For my Design Team inspiration, I created a Mother’s Day card using the absolutely adorable "Flower Love Bears"image from Di’s store. This sweet duo, with their little bouquet of blooms, was just perfect for a heartfelt and feminine design.
I colored the image with Ohuhu Markers, which I’ve been loving lately for their smooth blending and vibrant tones. To complement the image, I used a card base design from Anna Griffin on Cricut Design Space—but gave it my own spin to suit both the image and the sentiment I had in mind.
The design features a graduated “fan fold” element that runs vertically down the center of the card. It starts small and grows larger towards the middle, creating a beautiful focal point — and that’s where I mounted Di’s sweet image. The folds add dimension and elegance, making the card feel really special and eye-catching.
For my color palette, I went with soft, romantic hues: blues, lavenders, and pinks. These colors gave the card a dreamy, delicate feel — perfect for celebrating a loving mother. I also added some paper flowers and a touch of lace to take the elegance up a notch.
And of course, to meet the challenge theme, I included a Crafter’s Companion sentiment that reads: “You make my heart smile.” I heat embossed the sentiment in navy embossing powder on white cardstock to give it a crisp, polished look that tied in beautifully with the rest of the card.
This card ended up being my Mother’s Day gift to my mother-in-law, and I’m happy to say she absolutely loved it. 💖
Thanks so much for stopping by — and don’t forget to join us over at Di’s Digi Designs Challenge Blog for the Sentimentally Yours challenge! We’d love to see how you add heartfelt words to your beautiful creations.
