A Magical Birthday Book Easel Card – Ally’s Angels DT Project

Hello crafty friends!

I’m excited to share my latest creation as part of the Design Team over at the Ally’s Angels Anything Goes Challenge Blog! For this challenge, I decided to let a bit of magic guide my scissors and pencils — and I ended up creating this Wizard-Themed Book Shaped Easel Card, perfect for one of my students who’s a big fan of a certain beloved book series full of spells, wands, and wizarding wonder.

✨ The Card Design
This project started with a fun die set from Made to Surprise that allowed me to shape the card like an open book — perfect for bringing the spellbook concept to life. I really wanted to give it that old, well-loved magical text vibe, so I took extra time distressing and staining the “pages” with inks and sprays. I used some aged-looking off-white paper from my stash (I think it’s been waiting for just this project!) to add a truly weathered feel.

✨ The Magical Details
When the easel pops open, the focal point becomes the Wizarding School Crest inside, proudly bearing the sentiment: "Have a magical birthday." It adds a charming surprise for the recipient and really ties in with the theme.

One of my favorite parts of this card is the tassel bookmark detail I placed in the center — such a simple touch, but it brings the whole book design together!

✨ The Characters
I used three adorable wizard character stamps that look a lot like our favorite trio from that iconic wizarding series. I colored them with CastleArts soft core pencils and blended them out with Gamsol for a soft, dreamy finish. I love how the subtle shading adds to the slightly vintage, enchanted feel of the card.

💫 Final Thoughts
This card was a joy to make, especially knowing it would bring a little birthday magic to one of my students. There’s something so satisfying about crafting something truly personal and whimsical — and I hope it brings a smile to your face, too!

I’d love to hear what magical creations you’re working on! And don’t forget to hop over to Ally’s Angels Challenge Blog and share your own work — anything goes!

Until next time,
Miss Mudge
