Celebrating 80 Years & Fabulous! | Ally’s Angels Anything Goes Challenge

 Hello crafty friends!

It’s time for another Anything Goes Challenge over at the Ally’s Angels Challenge Blog, and today I’m sharing a very special card that I created for a dear friend who is celebrating her 80th birthday this year!

Since this was such a milestone birthday, I knew an ordinary card simply wouldn’t do. I wanted to create something big, dimensional, and worthy of celebrating 80 fabulous years!

For the card base, I used the original Show Stopper dies from Made to Surprise. This die set creates such an impressive dimensional card with all of those wonderful stepped sections. There are so many little areas to decorate, which gave me plenty of opportunities to mix patterned papers, embellishments, and metallic accents.

I chose a warm autumn-inspired color palette for this card, combining pretty fall foliage papers with plaid and shades of dusty blue, rust, cream, green, and gold. I especially love how the gold matting throughout the card catches the light and helps define all of the different layers and folds.

Of course, the star of the card had to be that big 80 in the center! I created and cut the number using my Cricut, making it large enough to really become the focal point of the design. I added delicate floral details inside the numbers and layered them over the plaid center panel. I love how the blue stands out against all of those warm autumn colors.

Since this card was made for a special friend, I wanted to add lots of pretty details. I embellished the upper corner with a cluster of dimensional flowers and greenery, while the opposite corner features a pair of pumpkins with tiny bows and miniature flowers. Finally, the “& Fabulous” sentiment along the bottom seemed like the perfect finishing touch—because turning 80 is definitely something worth celebrating in fabulous style!

One of my favorite things about the Show Stopper design is just how much there is to look at. Every little step and panel adds another layer of interest, while the open areas between the sections really emphasize the dimensional construction. It makes the card feel like a little piece of home décor as well as a birthday card, and I hope my friend will enjoy displaying it as she celebrates this wonderful milestone.

If you’d like to join us at Ally’s Angels, remember that our challenge is always Anything Goes, so you can share whatever you’ve been creating. We love seeing all of your wonderful projects!

Thanks so much for stopping by to take a look at my card today.

Happy 80th Birthday to a very special lady—and here’s to being 80 & Fabulous!
